Our study aimed to evaluate the moisturizing and soothing properties of IN & OUT DETOX® containing various emollient and anti-inflammatory principles. In our study we wanted to test, in a Short Term, the soothing efficacy, in a Long-Term Test, the moisturizing efficacy and the tolerability.

The Short Term Term Test it is important, in the efficacy studies, because it could have a high discriminating power as it is possible to achieve an improvement of the skin properties after a single application (Belo 2006). On the other hand, long-term studies are important for evaluating the real effects, on the superficial layers of the skin, determined by the functional principles present in the product (Prall 1986, Berardesca 1997).

In both types of tests, it is advisable to work with a sample of middle-aged volunteers in which the epidermis has more alterations. For these reasons, we have carried out the study on a middle-aged population. In the present experimentation, we also used a combination of non-invasive and clinical techniques. Interpretation of the results revealed that there are significant increases in hydration and an improvement in TEWL and Colorimetry after application of the product to skin artificially irritated by SDS. Skin hydration increases statistically significantly by 12% after 7 days of daily use. The lenitive efficacy of the product has been confirmed by a statistically significant reduction of 6% TEWL and the erythema of the 7% after 4 hours from the application of the product on a patch of skin irritation caused by SDS in cutaneous occlusion for 4 hours
