OLEAMULS® LOW is compatible with a wide range of active ingredients and is particularly suitable for use with oils of medium to high polarity.
For improved physical stability, the use of a rheology modifier is recommended. The oil phase can typically reach around 20–25%, depending on formulation composition and target rheology. Emulsification can be carried out using standard mixing or homogenization equipment by adding the oil phase to the aqueous phase under stirring, followed by turbo-emulsification, resulting in stable emulsions with a light, fresh skin feel.
Mimicking skin natural barrier, OLEAMULS® LOW provides a more effective barrier against trans-epidermal water loss thus ensuring enhanced ingredient delivery and hydration.
We evaluated the in vivo hydrating efficacy of OLEAMULS® LOW compared to an ethoxylated O/W emulsifier (PEG-8 Oleate). Basic emulsions without active ingredients were tested at different time points.
OLEAMULS® LOW shows the same efficacy in increasing skin hydration of the synthetic ethoxylated emulsifier which, in contrast, seems unable to maintain over time.
In addition, volunteers have preferred OLEAMULS® LOW emulsion in terms of sensory experience and treatment effectiveness with 100% satisfaction. Test conducted using Corneometer® CM 825.
