RESULTS INTERPRETATION
The cytotoxicity data obtained with the NRU assay were according the theoretical IC50 value (Inhibiting Concentration 50), i.e. the concentration of test compound which induce a decrease of cell survival by 50% as compared to untreated cultures.
The IC50 value, shown in table, indicates the concentration of product required to inhibit cell growth by 50%.
IC50 is a parameter for assessing the irritation potential of a compound, in the following: IC50 <0.5 indicates a strong cytotoxic / irritating effect.
IC50 between 0.5 and 1.5 indicates a moderate cytotoxic / irritating effect.
IC50> 1.5 indicates the absence of cytotoxic / irritating.

The IC50 value is calculated on the data obtained of cell viability, in relation to the concentration in mg / ml of the tested product.
A value of IC50 > 1 mg / ml indicates a product without an irritant potential;
A value of IC50 < 1 mg / ml indicates a product with an irritant potential.
