Conclusions – Efficacy in dermatitis treament – MULTI FEEL
Our study aimed to evaluate the moisturizing and soothing properties of an irritant dermatitis of a 2% active, of the company SOCRI – Greengredients, named MULTI FEEL®. The active ingredient presents in its formulation different anti-inflammatory principles such as: Rosmarinum officinalis (Takaki 2008), Hylocereus polyrhizus (Rodriguez 2016), Glycyrrhiza glabra (Racková 2007), Camellia sinensis (Chattopadhyay 2004), Centella asiatica (Mathew 2009).
For this study we used, a Short Term Test and a Long Term Test, using non-invasive techniques. The Short Term Test is important, in the efficacy studies, because it could have a high discriminating power as it is possible to achieve an improvement of the skin properties after a single application (Dal’Belo 2006). On the other hand, long-term studies are important for evaluating the real effects, on the superficial layers of the skin, determined by the functional principles present in the product (Prall 1986, Berardesca 1997). In both types of tests, it is advisable to work with a sample of middle-aged volunteers in which the epidermis has more alterations. For these reasons, we experimented on a group containing a middle-aged population.
The interpretation of the results revealed that following the use of the product, there are significant increases in hydration, an improvement in TEWL and erythema. Skin hydration increases statistically significantly in the Long Term Test, increasing by 12- 13% .The TEWL showed a statistically significant reduction, after 15 days of daily use of the product. Colorimetry showed a statistically significant reduction of the erythema after 15 days of daily application of the active product. To make this data even more reliable and to see if the parameters that, during the experimentation, have approached the statistical significance can reach it, it would be necessary to increase the number of volunteers in the study sample.
